Now that it's Easter, I wanted to wear something on my nails that would represent the occasion. However me being lazy and not wanting to create a complicated design, I opted for this cool speckled egg effect nail polish. Around this time last year Illamasqua brought out their version of these but gosh they were expensive! When Models Own released their take on it I knew I had to try them out.
The polish has a slightly gloopy consistency but is still very easy to apply. Only two coats are needed to create this opaque finish and a topcoat to add shine. One downside to this nail polish is that the black dots are the same as any other glitter so it is a struggle to take off but that doesn't stop me from having mini egg nails?! So I hope you're having an amazing Easter and are enjoying eating tons of chocolate - I know I am! Also I don't think you have many days left to vote for me in the Company Blogger Awards. Cleaning your makeup brushes is one of those tasks that we all have to do, for me, it's a Sunday evening job which is always put off to the last minute. However, I know many people who have used the same makeup brush for months and haven't even washed it! For those of you who don't wash your makeup brushes regularly well let me tell you why it's a very good idea. When you apply your foundation you're getting all the bacteria from your skin and letting it nestle it's way into the brush. The next time you use your brush, the same thing happens, except the bacteria from the previous time is now ALSO on your skin. This will then cause you to have horrible spot outbreaks, which no girl wants! Eye brushes are less of a problem but I would still recommend to deep clean them every few weeks.
Here's what I do to keep my brushes clean and bacteria free! 1. Lay out all your dirty brushes which need to be cleaned. 2. Dampen the brush slightly with lukewarm water. 3. Pump your cleaning product of choice (I use a shampoo that is not too harsh) into the palm of your hand. 4. Start swirling your makeup brush in the palm of your hand, adding small amounts of water to lather up the product. 5. Gently squeeze out the product and watch the dirt disappear into the plughole... 6. Then re-shape the brush and let dry on a towel. If you are prone to having breakouts then maybe consider washing your brushes more than the regular person and maybe you will see an improvement with your skin? However, of course the more you wash your brushes the quicker they will wear out. So, now your makeup brushes will be super clean and ready to use!
Also remember to vote for me in the Company Style Blogger Awards, under the catagory best teen style blog! You haven't got a lot of time left and every vote counts. Click on the picture to the side to vote!

I had a quick visit to boots yesterday and sneakily picked up a few things. However I did resist myself from doing all the 3 for 2's, as it's safe to say I do not need any more makeup! This Easter holidays I am planning on getting my hair cut shorter so I wanted to get some hair products that will give me some volume and texture. I picked up the L'oreal Volume Supersizing Spray which is meant to create back combed volume and an instant matt texture. I spray this into my roots and scrunch my hair. I've only used this product a few times but so far I love it! It also leaves my hair not feeling stiff or sticky. I also got the 17 Cheek Stamp Blush in Stare Struck, a very pigmented blush which you stamp onto your cheek and blend. When you first apply it, it is very bold but when blended it gives such a pretty glow. Stare-struck is a pinky rose colour with some shimmer running through it. This blush is amazing for travelling but annoyingly does not fit in my muji draws! Lastly I got the Rita Ora Rimmel London Nail Polish in Breakfast In Bed which is a pale blue with hints of a green undertone. It also has a slight shimmer but hardly noticeable. I am currently wearing this on my nails and I looooove it! It took me about 2-3 coats to get the right pigmentation and it dried pretty quickly too! I now really want to get the light pink and nude next time I go into boots. I definitely picked up some amazing products and can't wait to go back and find some more! Have you tried any of these products? |

Everyone has to start somewhere. I only got my first follower after a few months of blogging so most days it felt like I was writing to no one! I am now lucky enough to have over 100 followers just after a year. Blogging is definitely something I enjoy and love. I've been meaning to do this post for quite a little while now, so here are my top tips on starting a beauty blog. Platforms The two main sites on which you can create your blog on are Blogger and Wordpress. Blogger is the simpler of the two, for the non techniqual people . It takes you though the steps to create a simple layout and is easy to navigate. Which is why I started off my blog on this platform and still am! Whereas Wordpress is HTML based, so if you are not sure what HTML even is then I'd stick with blogger. Name & Direction This is one of the most trickiest parts of making your blog because you're going to be stuck with it for a long time unless you change it quite early on. Try and think of something catchy and not too long. This way, people can remember it and you will still like it in the next five years. It's also a good idea to think about what you wish to blog about and how it will be different from the rest. Are you going to try and focus it all on OOTD's or just reviews? This will most likely change when you begin to blog but it's all about trial and error. In the end it will have helped you focus on a topic and be on the right track for an amazing blog. Layout Most bloggers will read blogs which have a well done design which isn't cluttered. This does not mean it has to be at all fancy or professionally designed but I think the main priorities should be easy to read, easy to navigate and clear social media links. It's okay to change your design every now and then because we will all change our mind on what we like. When I first started blogging my background was pink but then it quickly changed to white. I think the more simpler it is the more you will like it and not want to change it. Think about what you like in other people's blogs design i.e: a search bar or popular posts. Try and make it overall an enjoyable visit for your readers. Photography When you first start off blogging, it's a good idea to invest in a decent camera. You don't need one but it will make a huge difference to the quality of your pictures. DSLRs can be expensive but again will make your photos look a higher quality. A simple point and shoot camera can work too (I still use one!) If you take your own photos it's usefull to invest in a tripod which can be bought on Amazon. It's all about the content Content is by far the most important part of blogging. You might have an amazing design but if the content isnt great you won't get readers revisiting. Try and be original. Everyone loves the haul or hype but try and make each post unique. Think of something no one else has done - this is what will make the audience want to come back and read more. Try and be consistent, whether your uploading daily or weekly. It's nice for the readers to know when to expect a new post. Your posts don't have to be essays so try and find your style of writing. The last point is most bloggers like to see large photos rather than tiny small ones! So I hope this post has helped you get started. The key to blogging is trial and error and to have confidence in yourself. I'm thinking of creating more of these topic posts like Making time for blogging and Using social media to promote your blog. Happy blogging! |
